Installing Chambered Exhaust

What started off as a simple replacement of the exhaust system turned into one big mess. When I replaced the gas tank I had to cut off a muffler in order to drop the tank, since my system was welded on. So I purchased a under car chambered exhaust system to replace the old system. I started by using my new reciprocating saw to cut the old system off. As you can see from the picture both pipes had a big hole where the installer did not weld the pipes together. Both sides were like this with obvious exhaust trails on it. Once I had the whole system off, I thought it would be smooth sailing. I was wrong like usual. The old manifold studs were seriously rusted in place. I managed to get 1 out of the 6 out, snapped off 2 of the 6, and couldn't even budge the other 3. So now I had to take off the exhaust manifolds and take them to a machine shop to have the studs removed and to have the broken off studs most likely drilled out and helicoiled. What was an afternoon job turned out now to cost me a few more days and a few more dollars. Maybe this was all a clue just to get headers and side pipes.
